Gestern ist nach langem Warten dieser alte Herr hier eingezogen. Er hat irgendwo eine Extrarunde in Welt gedreht und galt als verschollen, doch nun hat die Post ihn tatsächlich wiedergefunden und zu mir gebracht. Juchu!
Ich bin kein genereller Fan der Kotobukiya-Designs. Einige sind schön, andere treffen nicht so ganz meinen Geschmack. Sephiroth hätte ich mir wohl nicht gekauft, wäre er kein Schnäppchen gewesen, aber so abseits der Produktfotos gefällt er mir doch deutlich besser als erwartet.
Es handelt sich um die zweite Auflage der Figur von 2005. Ihm fehlt eine Haarspitze, aber das fällt absolut nicht auf, wenn man nicht danach sucht. Jetzt heißt es in der Vitrine mal wieder: Zusammenrücken!
Es existiert eine erste Auflage der Figur von 1999, diese war limitiert auf 3000 Exemplare. Die zweite Auflage von 2005 erschien dann zwar ohne Limitierung, ist aber heute, fast 20 Jahre später, trotzdem nicht mehr leicht zu bekommen. Auf Ebay kann man sie meist zu Preisen zwischen 150€ und 350€ erstehen, je nach Zustand und Vollständigkeit. Um sie für unter 100€ in gutem Zustand zu finden, muss man schon sehr viel Glück haben.
Die Figur ist samt Sockel knapp 30cm hoch und besteht aus 3 Teilen: Dem Sockel, der Figur selbst und der langen Schwertklinge. Die Figur wird mir einem stabilen Metallstift im Sockel befestigt. Der Griff des Schwertes liegt fest in der Hand der Figur, die Klinge kann dann problemlos hineingeschoben werden.
Achtung, es existieren Bootlegs dieser Figur! Allerdings sind diese wie so oft relativ leicht am Gesicht (deformiert, schielender Blick) und der insgesamt unsauberen Bemalung zu erkennen.

After a long wait, this old gentleman arrived here yesterday. He did an extra round somewhere in the world and was thought to have gone missing, but now the post office has actually found him back and brought him to me. Yay!
I’m not a general fan of the Kotobukiya designs. Some are nice, others don’t really suit my taste. I probably wouldn’t have bought Sephiroth if he hadn’t been a bargain, but offside the product photos, I like him a lot better than expected.
It’s the second edition of the figure from 2005 and he’s missing one tip of his hair, but that’s not at all noticeable if you’re not searching for it. Now it’s time to move closer together in the display case!

The handle of the sword lies firmly in the figure’s hand and the blade can then be slid into it without any problems.
Be warned: There are bootlegs of this figure! However, as often these are easily recognizable by the face (deformed, squinting look) and the overall unclean painting.
