Heute kam die erste Figur der neuen Final Fantasy VII Bring Arts Reihe bei mir an. Wie könnte es auch anders sein: Figur Nr. 1 ist natürlich Cloud Strife. Ich sagte es schon einmal – man kann nie genug Clouds haben. ^_^
Das Erste was hier auffällt, ist das neue Verpackungsdesign. Die Figur steckt nicht wie sonst in einem Blister oder Karton mit Sichtfenster, durch den man ins Innere sehen kann, sondern in einer rundum geschlossenen Box mit schlichtem Design. Ich finde die helle Verpackungsoptik ziemlich hübsch. – Mir bringt das nichts, der Karton landet ohnehin im Keller. Aber für OVP-Sammler bedeutet es so vermutlich mal wieder etwas Abwechslung im Regal. ^^
Cloud kommt mit seinem Buster Sword, 4 Ersatzhänden und einem Nupsi, mit dem das Schwert an seinem Rücken befestigt werden kann. Außerdem ist ein Ständer aus klarem Plastik dabei, der aber nicht zwingend benötigt wird. Cloud kann tatsächlich recht gut auf seinen eigenen Beinen stehen.
Erstmals gibt es zusätzlich zur Figur auch ein Ticket für ein Digitales Echtheitszertifikat, das man via Blockchain Technologie auf Square Enix’ Partner Wallet App Enjin registrieren kann. Schnickschnack, wenn Ihr mich fragt, – vor allem wenn das der Grund für den horrenden Preis der Figur sein sollte …
Dieser neue Bring Arts Cloud ist ziemlich klein – er misst gerade einmal 15,2cm. Und wie bei allen kleinen oder filigraneren Figuren wirkt sich das auch hier auf die Stabilität der Gelenke aus. Nach nur einer Bewegung hatte ich schon Clouds linkes Bein in der Hand. Und beim Aufstecken der Schwerthand hatte ich ständig das Gefühl, sehr vorsichtig sein zu müssen, um den zierlichen Stecker nicht umzubiegen oder gar abzubrechen.
Das Design dieses Clouds ist stark an das originale Final Fantasy VII Designs von Tetsuya Nomura angelehnt. Obwohl ich ein großer Fan der alten Optik bin und auch im direkten Vergleich finde, dass die Figur ihrem Vorbild gut nachempfunden ist, erscheint mir das Gesicht der Action-Figur dennoch seltsam pausbackig. Ansonsten lässt sich nichts Negatives über das Design sagen. Es gleicht der Vorlage, die Bemalung ist überwiegend sauber. Die Details, wie z.B. der lose Gürtel, sind hübsch gemacht. Hat man die Figur in der Hand, sieht alles sehr ordentlich aus, nur die Nahaufnahmen zeigen, dass die Ausformung hier und da vielleicht nicht ganz perfekt ist.
Obwohl mir die Figur insgesamt gut gefällt, bin ich gleichzeitig kein großer Fan der neuen Bring Arts Reihen. Sie sind in meinen Augen für das, was man bekommt, einfach viel zu teuer!
Schon die Final Fantasy IX Crew schlug mit teils 170€ zu Buche – allerdings für zwei Figuren im Set. Die neuen, angekündigten Final Fantasy XVI Bring Arts sollen 116€ pro Stück kosten.
Diesen Cloud (und ebenso die beiden kommenden Bring Arts von Tifa und Aerith) gibt es für entweder 129,99€ oder gar 159,99€ (in der Digital Plus Edition) im SE Store. Dazu kommt dann die neue Portopauschale von 10€. Für eine 15cm kleine Figur!
Ich habe hier mal einen kleinen Querschnitt aus 26 Jahren Final Fantasy VII Cloud- Figuren zusammengestellt. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis war wohl niemals so schlecht wie bei dieser neuen Bring Arts Figur.
Da der Rest des Final Fantasy VII Casts nach Aerith und Tifa nur als „normale“ Action-Figur erscheint, die je 117€/Stück kosten sollen und kein NFT mehr enthalten, gehe ich davon aus, dass wir diese Mondpreise dem digitalen Schnickschnack zu verdanken haben. – Gut, dass davon nach drei Modellen wieder Abstand genommen wurde. Davon abgesehen finde ich aber auch 117€ noch deutlich zu viel für diese kleinen Vitrinenbewohner und werde daher wohl wieder abwarten, und sie vielleicht später reduziert aus Japan beziehen.
Kaufempfehlung? – Kann ich hier nicht aussprechen. Dafür ist der Preis einfach zu hoch. Abgesehen davon ist es eine süße, kleine Figur im großartigen Retro-Look.

Today I received the first figure of the new Final Fantasy VII Bring Arts series. How could it be otherwise – figure no. 1 is of course Cloud Strife. I’ve said it before – you can never have enough Clouds. ^_^
The first thing you notice here is the new packaging design. The figure doesn’t come in a blister, through which you can see inside, but in an all-round closed box with a simple design. I think the bright packaging look is quite pretty. – It doesn’t do me any good, the box ends up in the cellar anyway. But for OVP collectors, it probably means a bit of variety on the shelf. ^^
Cloud comes with his Buster Sword, 4 spare hands and a plug that can be used to attach the sword to his back. A clear plastic stand is also included, but this is not absolutely necessary. Cloud can actually stand quite well on his own two feet.
For the first time, the figure also comes with a ticket for a Digital Certificate of Authenticity, which can be registered via blockchain technology on Square Enix’s partner wallet app Enjin. Bells and whistles, if you ask me – especially if that’s the reason for the figure’s horrendous price…
This new Bring Arts Cloud is pretty small – it measures just 15.2cm. And as with all small or more delicate figures, this has an effect on the stability of the joints. After just one movement, I already had Cloud’s left leg in my hand. And when attaching the sword hand, I constantly had the feeling that I had to be very careful not to bend or even break off the delicate plug.
The design of this cloud is strongly based on the original Final Fantasy VII design by Tetsuya Nomura. Although I’m a big fan of the old look and also find that the figure is well modeled in direct comparison, the head sculp still seems strangely chubby to me. Otherwise, there is nothing negative to say about the design. It resembles the original and the painting is mostly clean. The details, such as the loose belt, are nicely done. When you hold the figure in your hand, everything looks clean and neat, only the close-ups show that the molding is perhaps not quite perfect here and there.
Although I like the figure overall, I’m not a big fan of the new Bring Arts series. In my eyes, they are simply far too expensive for what you get!
The Final Fantasy IX Crew already cost €170 in some cases – albeit for two figures in a set. The new, announced Final Fantasy XVI Bring Arts are supposed to cost 116€ each.
This Cloud (and also the two upcoming Bring Arts from Tifa and Aerith) are available for either €129.99 or even €159.99 (in the Digital Plus Edition) in the SE Store. Then there is the new postage fee of 10€. For a 15cm small figure!
I’ve put together a small cross-section of 26 years of Final Fantasy VII Cloud- figures here – and the price/performance ratio has probably never been as bad as with this new Bring Arts figure.
Since the rest of the Final Fantasy VII cast after Aerith and Tifa will only be released as „normal“ action figures, which are supposed to cost 117€/each and no longer include an NFT, I assume that we have the digital useless stuff to thank for these moon prices. – It’s a good thing that this will be abandoned after three models. Apart from that, however, I still think 117€ is far too much for these little showcase inhabitants and I will therefore probably wait again and perhaps buy them later at a reduced price from Japan.
Recommendation to buy? – I can’t give one here. The price is simply too high for that. Apart from that, it’s a cute little figure with a great retro design.
